In the spotlight... Martyn Hazelwood
Our 'In The Spotlight...' series is designed to introduce you to the TBM team and we kick off with our Managing Director, Martyn Hazelwood.
'I started my career at Tindalls & Son in 1981 as the apprentice Electronics Engineer to help with the transition from manual typewriters to electronics. I was pleased to be promoted to Service Manger in 1985 where we expanded more into photocopiers, printers and most office products. In 1990 the partners at Tindalls & Son decided that they wanted to start retiring and the company was split into smaller limited companies, and that's when TBM (Tindalls Business Machines) was established and I was appointed as the Managing Director.
'In a world of ever-changing technology, I’m delighted to say that we've managed to continue to diversify and develop into new technology along our journey. We've seen typewriters develop into word processors, then into computers and laptops and we now provide IT sales and support for clients in all sectors. Copiers and printer have moved to colour multi-functional devices both for the small home office and the largest of multi-user clients.
'We’ve continued to expand into all areas of IT and we're very proud of the level of service that we provide. Our service agreements can be tailored to everyone’s needs. As we operate out of Laureate Paddocks in Newmarket our clients can benefit from popping in and speaking to our team, receiving support over the phone or remotely or even requesting a site visit.
'As Managing Director I’m delighted to see our team continuing to expand and provide our clientbase with sales and service support that's second to none. Any client looking for support with either their print and multi-functional devices or their IT infrastructure can think TBM as we can certainly help.
'Away from TBM, I've also been involved with Suffolk Fire and Rescue for 40 years, during 37 of which I've been operational as Watch Manager at Newmarket on Call. To relax I enjoy eating and drinking out, but also hosting my legendary barbecues. Throughout my TBM and Fire Service journey I've been supported by my wife Paula since we were married in 1989. We're also privileged to have our daughter Rebekah, who's a key member of the TBM team, and Nathan who with his partner Shona now has a charming young son named Arlo. Becoming grandparents has been the biggest thrill for Paula and myself, and we can't wait to watch Arlo grow and develop in the years to come.'
