Support for Windows 10 to end in October 2025
As we know, things don’t stand still for very long in the world of IT, and in particular when it comes to systems and software.
It’s best practice to keep everything on your PC or laptop up to date, especially when a giant such as Microsoft decides to cease support for a relatively recent version of their main systems software.
It’s now official that from 1 October 2025 there will no longer be any free software updates from Windows Update for Windows 10, and technical assistance and security fixes will also be withdrawn. While your PC or laptop will still work, it’s strongly recommended that you upgrade to Windows 11 which, Microsoft claims, ‘offers a modern and efficient experience designed to meet current demands for heightened security’.
In fairness, Windows 11 does include a raft of new features, which make it an attractive upgrade. These include:
